Working with Aric Bostick to offer campFIREDUP! is the culmination of her life's ambition to enrich the lives of children and to inspire young leaders to be resilient, focused, purposeful, and, above all, kind.

Why Do Angie and I Want To Help Your Student?
Last May, I was the Keynote Speaker at the Volunteers In Public Schools End of the year Celebration. When I walked into the Merrell Center I was in awe of the site of 1,500 parents, administrators, and community members who had collectively given over 1,000,000 hours of their time to make sure that the students and teachers of Katy ISD have the very best care, instruction and tools to be successful in school and in life!  I immediately wanted to find a way to be part of such a special district with this type of dedication and commitment to excellence.  I led a 1 day leadership camp for Superintendent Fraley the year before and it led to the VIPS Breakfast which led to me connecting with (then) PTA VP of Programs Angie Kunkel who helped bring me in to speak to the students, teachers and parents at Shafer Elementary!

She created a leadership program at Shafer Elementary called the the Charge, which stands for Leadership Education and Development. She was inspired to create this yearlong initiative after hearing me speak at the VIPS breakfast.  My day at Shafer doing student assemblies and student leadership was a huge success.  Angie and I were so inspired by the ability of 3rd-5th grade students to grow into leaders and grasp the principles of success in school and in life we both wanted to give even more.  From that inspiration campFIREDUP was born and will be launching this summer on June 20-21 and June 27-28.
